Job Title: Accounts Receivable Accountant

Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Accountant to join our client's accounting team. This role is responsible for managing the full accounts receivable cycle, ensuring timely and accurate billing, payment application, reconciliations, and reporting. The ideal candidate has a solid accounting foundation, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries related to accounts receivable and other assigned accounts
- Manage and maintain the accounts receivable aging report, including follow-up on past-due balances
- Post and apply customer payments (ACH, wire, check, credit card) accurately and timely
- Perform monthly reconciliations of accounts receivable, cash, and related balance sheet accounts
- Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, short pays, overpayments, and unapplied cash
- Coordinate with customers and internal teams to resolve billing and collection issues
- Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for month-end and year-end close
- Assist with audit requests and provide required AR-related documentation
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls
- Identify process improvement opportunities within the AR function
- Perform other accounting duties and special projects as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred)
- 2+ years of experience in accounts receivable or general accounting
- Working knowledge of journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting
- Experience managing an AR aging report and collections follow-up
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic formulas)
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage, SAP, Dynamics, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Experience in a high-volume transaction environment
- Knowledge of GAAP and internal control best practices
